RMS Construction Sweeps HOBIs in Multi-Family Entries

Randy Salvatore, president of Stamford-based RMS Construction, accepted four 2004 Home Building Industry Awards (HOBIs) at the Home Builders Association of Connecticut’s (HBA) annual awards ceremony for construction and marketing excellence on behalf of the firm’s Norwalk housing development, The Phoenix on Isaac.
RMS Construction was awarded top honors for the “Best Multi-Family Community”, “Best Marketed Multi-Family Community”, “Best Community Brochure” and the “Best Ad”.
Attended by more than 600 building industry professionals, the ceremony was held in October at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.
In awarding “Best Multi-Family Community” recognition to RMS Construction, Joanne Carroll, awards producer and HBA director, said “We liked the single family feel Randy Salvatore created in the hallways of The Phoenix on Isaac, with panel trim and fluted pilasters defining each unity entry. Randy carried that same quality inside the units, with amenities such as crown molding, Cat 5 wiring, granite countertops and individual laundry facilities”.
The judges “were also impressed that Randy was pioneering the first privately funded residential development in Norwalk’s urban redevelopment district, and yet all 27 units were sold before construction was completed.”
The four-story housing complex is centrally located in the heart of downtown Norwalk and houses 27 one- and two- bedroom condominiums with “state-of-the-art amenities”.
“The perfect timing and strong demand for this category of luxury housing in Norwalk was evidenced by the fact that the entire project sold out well before final construction of the project was completed,” Mr. Salvatore said in a press release. “The project was marketed to first-time homebuyers and young professionals interested in investing in the Fairfield County residential market, with quality, price and location being key factors in their investment decision”.
In awarding RMS Construction the “Best Marketed Multi-Family Community”, “Best Community Brochure” and the “Best Ad” awards, the marketing judges for the HOBI awards were duly impressed “with the sophistication of the company’s series of six print ads and how well they were targeted to young professionals. The four-color brochure with compact CD hit all the right buttons for the market RMS Construction was targeting”.
Total construction time on the project was eight months; marketing initiatives, started in April, 2004, spanned a two-month period, during which time all of the 27 units were sold.
RMS has also been awarded HOBI awards for the past two years for construction excellence. Recipients of the 2003 “Best Small Attached Community” award for Vine Meadows, a 10-unit townhouse development on High Ridge Road in Stamford, RMS Construction won special recognition in 2002 in the “Custom Home Over 10,000 square feet” category for a custom home on Smith Ridge in New Canaan.
