Builder honored for Stamford development

A six time winner of the HOBI awards presented annually by the Homebuilders Association of Connecticut, New Canaan resident Randy Salvatore, president of RMS Construction, took home top honors at the November 6 awards ceremony when the Stamford development firm was awarded “Community of the Year” for The Village at River’s Edge, a new 170-home community in the Springdale section of Stamford.

The HOBI awards recognize the state’s best construction and remodeling projects, judging member entries on excellence in craftsmanship, construction ingenuity and consumer value.

Praising the award-winners for successfully overcoming the difficult market conditions dogging today’s building industry, Joanne Carroll, publisher of Connecticut Builder magazine, presented the group’s highest award to Mr. Salvatore in front of a record group of more than 800 attendees at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.

“Randy Salvatore has consistently demonstrated his ingenuity and exceptional construction expertise in every project he undertakes, whether it is a high-end custom home or a multi-family community of a 170 town homes,” Ms. Carroll said. “This past year he overcame particularly daunting challenges in developing the site for his current project, ‘The Village at River’s Edge’ when he had the vision and foresight to reclaim a nine-acre former industrial property and turn it into an award-winning country club community. He is able to get the job done, from the planning and approval stages to execution and marketing, in record time. He has a unique talent to deliver top-quality housing quickly and affordably. He’s singularly dedicated to construction excellence in every detail and is 100 percent committed to ensuring real value for today’s discerning buyers.” Noting that many of the homes at The Village at River’s Edge were under binder before construction on the development was started, Ms. Carroll said that this new mid-sized community continues to garner attention in the market.

“In addition to featuring all those high-end amenities you would find inside multi-million dollar homes, like custom millwork, handcrafted cabinetry and even elevators in many homes, The Village at River’s Edge offers residents lifestyles amenities that really do make a difference in a sought after community. And Randy delivers it to them at a value that is unequaled in the market,” she said.

More than 85 percent of the homes in this mid-sized community have been sold, with the final phase of construction currently underway. Available residences are priced from the low $500s.

“It is interesting to note that even during an especial tough real estate market, Randy never has any difficulty selling his new homes for the full asking price,” Ms. Carroll said.

Along with being recognized as “Community of the Year,” The Village at River’s Edge was awarded a HOBI for the “Best Mid-Sized Attached Community in Connecticut.” RMS Construction was also awarded the 2006 “Best Mid-Sized Attached Community” for The Village at Maple Pointe in Stamford; the 2004 “Best Multi Family Community” for Norwalk’s The Phoenix on Isaac; 2003 “Best Small Attached Community” award for Vine Meadows, a townhouse development in Stamford; Special Recognition in 2002 for a 12,000-square foot custom home in New Canaan, and three marketing awards for The Village at River’s Edge.
